Pistyll Rhaeadr, Meol Sych and Cadair Berwyn 23-02-2018 I have been looking at Moel Sych for a few weeks now, I started looking at walks that visited waterfalls, so that the boy would be amused if I ever dragged him along. For some reason Moel Sych has stuck out though, I think its due to seeing pictures from the top, overlooking the lake Llyn Lluncaws. Anyway today was the day, bag packed, car fuelled up, MET Office checked, no excuses. My alarm went off at 5am, and I was up ready, but no hot water, half an hour playing with the boiler, still no hot water, so I left it for the wife to sort out, and jumped in the car for the 2 hour drive into North Wales. Now although I wasn't running late, I was still a little rushed, and I couldn't remember the name of the place I wanted to park, so quickly I put Moel Sych into the Sat Nav and off I went, planning to stop somewhere nearer and actually look up the name of where I was off to, and reprogram the Sat Nav.  The M6 wa

A walk with the Dogs on the Ribble Estuary Seeing as it was such a lovely day in the North West, we decided to take the dogs out to a new place for them. We normally take them around the fishing ponds at Scarisbrick, or around Bank Hall near Tarleton. Today though we travelled a little further to Longton, specifically the Dolphin Inn, a pub we have visited a few times for some delicious meals.  So a quick half hour drive up the A59, and down the narrow country lanes our towards the marshes of the River Douglas, where it meets the River Ribble. We park outside the pub, get the dogs on the leads, and set off up the road to the gated entrance to the footpath on top of the flood barrier.  We instantly realise we may have a bit of a problem when we reach the first stile, our dogs are big, Dexter is an old Chocolate Labrador, and is on the chunky side, whereas Lomax is a 9.5st Dogue de Bordeaux (Turner and Hooch), and is a big lad. Somebody has been paying attention to the stiles, a

Delamere Forest and Pale Heights 04-02-2018 Today I planned a short walk around Delamere Forest lake with a new walking partner, my mum. She has been a bit under the weather recently so I said I would take her out for the day, somewhere she has been before and knew she could manage a light stroll. I made some sandwiches and a flask of tea, and set off to pick her up at 10am. A quick trip down the motorway and along a few A roads and we are turning left at Delamere train station, and down the lane towards the coffee shop. Its now 11am and the place is already busy, with runners and dog walkers all walking up the narrow single track road. The first, second and third carparks are all full, so we end up parking in the big overflow carpark near to the wooden Dragon Fly. Once parked and a ticket has been purchased, I pack my bag and change my shoes and we set off towards the lake. Its been a long time since I was last here, so mum gives directions and off we go back up the r
