Settle and Stainforth Catrigg Force, Stainforth Force and Scaleber Force Jubilee and Victoria Caves The Hoffmann Kiln First of all, I didn't oversleep this weekend, so me and the boy had our early start for our walk around Stainforth. Now I did plan a 6 hour circular walk around Settle and Stainforth, but I was a little worried as me and the boy are not the fastest walkers, and even with a 10am start, 6 hours was pushing it for daylight, especially as we are not experienced walkers and wanted to take pictures and have a few rest stops along the way. So I decided on Saturday night to shorten the walk, but still stop and see Scaleber Force and the Hoffmann Kiln at Langcliffe on our way through to Stainforth where we would begin our walk. After filling the flasks and packing the sandwiches, off we went, stopping at Subway for breakfast before hitting the M6 on the familiar journey we had done the weekend before. As we turned off the A59, you could tell straight away tha

Janet's Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove  07-01-2018 A last minute plan, basically decided to go the night before. Its a place Ive wanted to visit for a while now, but never got round to it. So I told the boy I would be getting him up early and got the gear ready. Went to bed, set my alarm for 7:30am, and promptly overslept. Woke up at 8:45, 15 minutes after I had planned to leave the house. We finally left the house at 9:30, and after a stop off at Greggs for breakfast, we headed for the Yorkshire Dales. After a bum twitching drive down the Postman Pat lanes that were still frozen, we finally arrived in Malham at 11:30, and discovered that half of England had had the same idea. The National Park car park was over flowing, and the road entering Malham was full of parked cars. So we turned round and parked at Kirkby Top in the kindergarten school. We changed our shoes, packed the bag and set off down the hill into Malham, and picked up the footpath to Janets Foss.

January 1st 2018 Welcome to my blog. Basically a place where I will be posting about my outdoor pursuits in 2018. Hopefully creating this will encourage me to get out and about more often this year, be that walking, hiking, scrambling, cycling, or mountain biking. My main aim is to lose some weight and get fitter, whilst not being confined to a gym or swimming pool. I enjoy the great outdoors, and I will definitely enjoy getting out into the countryside. I hope you enjoy what Im trying to create and accomplish, and below is some of the things I got up to  in 2017. Snowdon The day I realised I am nowhere near as fit as I used to be, the first day of my life I felt age creeping up on me. Taking the Rangers Track, getting lost, and having a close encounter with a heard of cows, the day wasn't as enjoyable as it should have been. Already planning a return visit in 2018. Bleaklow Hill A return visit on a Saturday morning. One of my fa
